Dynamic properties of Toyoura sand in reliquefaction tests

Multiple occurrences of liquefaction in recent earthquake events revealed the importance studying reliquefaction characteristics sandy soils. However, there is a lack knowledge determining dynamic properties reliquefied Through series hollow cylinder torsional shear tests, this paper presents first-hand experimental study to investigate modulus reduction and damping Toyoura sand under integrated effects strain history induced anisotropy. Reliquefaction resistance are highly dependent on state reconsolidation. On contrary, unique curve was found for all tests. An excess pore-water pressure model proposed as function secant virgin moderately preshaken sand. Finally, results were interpreted based energy concept.
